Our topic this term is
 
Intrepid Explorers 
 
Throughout this Term, we will be learning about who Christopher Columbus was and why he was so significant in regards to his discoveries and voyages around the world!
 
We will then also be looking at Neil Armstrong and think about why we still remember him today... the children will get to learn about the moon landing and the impact this had on our understanding of the world!

Who was Christopher Columbus and did he 'discover' the Americas?
Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer who sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in 1492, hoping to find new route to Asia, but instead he discovered the Americas - though it is important to remember the Native Americans who were already living there...

Neil Alden Armstrong was an American  astronaut who, as the commander of the 1969 Apollo 11 mission, became the first person to walk on the moon.
