Curriculum - Little Acorns

In our nursery, we follow the Early Years Curriculum, in line with the statutory requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Our curriculum is play-based, and enables our children to develop their personalities, talents and abilities. We know that every child is unique and we provide rich learning opportunities and our highly skilled staff build positive relationships with all children, and their families.

Our setting has both inside and outside areas that children have free-flow access to, and we have use of our beautiful school grounds, which includes a wonderful conservation area with a firepit, a pond and lots of trees for children to climb! We really value outdoor play and learning and use our conservation every week with our children - come rain or shine!

Our Key Practitioners plan engaging, fun and inspiring activities based on the children's interests. We understand and observe each child's development and learning, and plan their next steps.

There are key areas of development in the EYFS curriculum...
- Personal, Emotional and Social Development
- Physical Development
- Communication and Language
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
Our curriculum is also underpinned by the following characteristics...
- Playing and Exploring
- Active Learning
- Creating and Thinking Critically
