Welcome to St Mary's Church of England Primary School and Nursery in Writhlington.

St Mary's Primary School and Nursery is proud to be part of The Partnership Trust, a Trust which truly values the individuality and uniqueness of each school within it, while providing excellent support and challenge for improvement.

The Partnership trust is a multi-academy trust consisting of special and primary schools in Bath and North East Somerset and Somerset.

The Trust is committed to providing an outstanding education for all pupils, through an unrelenting focus on every child and their individual progress and attainment.

The partnership of schools within the Trust is built upon principles of equality, trust and respect towards each other within a culture of shared challenge and support.

At St Mary's we create a happy, lively and stimulating environment where EVERY child is able to achieve and enjoy their learning. We equip children with the skills needed for later life by developing confidence and independence and providing them with the foundations of learning on which to build their future achievements.

We are a very popular school, with an excellent reputation for high standards and an exciting curriculum that gives pupils a breadth of engaging activities and experiences. We particularly value Outdoor Play And Learning and have the Platinum award in recognition of our great provision. Our nurturing Nursery provides an excellent introduction to school life.

We value our close links with parents and are proud to be based at the heart of the local community.
OFSTED 2018: Parents...are very positive about the care and encouragement their children receive. 'The school atmosphere is positive and welcoming.'

SIAMS 2016:[The] vision for the school is one where children have high expectations that they can be successful, living in a community based upon Christian values which they experience for themselves.

Welcome from the Headteacher and Chair of Governors

Welcome from the Headteacher – Ms Cathie Lampert

It has been a great pleasure to serve as headteacher of St Mary's Church of England Primary School and Nursery School since April 2019. It is a wonderful school to work in, with a lovely, happy feel to it. This starts, of course, with the children, who create the special atmosphere and energy in our school, but it extends well beyond that.

Ours is a truly comprehensive school, in that we serve the whole community, regardless of individual difference. We have a staff of dedicated professionals, who not only drive every child's academic progress, but who nurture ambition, support children emotionally and socially, and encourage children to care about each other and the world we all share.

I do hope you will take the opportunity to find out more about our school and I look forward to welcoming you in person.

Welcome from The Chair of Governors – Mrs Sarah Gilliam

It has been a great pleasure to serve as Chair of Governors at St Mary’s Church of England Primary School and Nursery School since September 2020 following on from becoming a Governor in 2017.

St Mary’s is a hidden gem; a very well thought of school serving the local community, set in a beautiful location in Writhlington, Radstock. Children here thrive within this nurturing and supportive environment, embracing the inspiring curriculum and extensive outside space. A wealth of activities are offered to the children by the highly dedicated staff team, with each individual being encouraged to ‘be the best they can be’.

St Mary’s is also blessed with a focused and dedicated Local Governing Board, who work hard in assisting with the strategic direction of the school.

I'd encourage prospective parents to contact the school office to arrange a visit so that you can see for yourselves all that St Mary's has to offer.
