Term 4

Term 4

Our topic this term is continuing on from last term’s ‘Cogheart’ – a steampunk Victorian adventure story which had the class desperate to read! We will be reading the next instalment of the series with a book titled ‘Moonlocket’. From this, we will be writing our own adventure stories and continuing to develop our skills of writing for a purpose and writing to engage the reader.

We will be continuing with our science topic of electricity which will help us to create circuits and develop our knowledge of symbols used as well as investigate the brightness of bulbs and volume of buzzers with the number of cells in the circuit.

In RE, we will be continuing to learn about Islam and how Muslims show commitment to their faith. We have been finding out about the 5 pillars of Islam– the core beliefs which many Muslims follow. The class have worked in groups to plan a fundraising event. As part of this, they will be writing letters to Miss Lampert, to parents and explaining the events to the school in Key Stage assemblies.

We will be learning about different cultural customs throughout history in our geography lessons.

Our school value this term is forgiveness and we will be discussing this in whole school and key stage worships.

To help with homework, there will be a Year 6 SAT’s survival club after school each Thursday from 3:15 It has been great to have so many of the class coming to this, and many of the pupils have said they find it helpful. If you would like your child to come along and complete their homework at school, there is still space. Also, if you would like any extra work or additional support, please let me know.
