Our Learning

Term Three is 'Book Term' at St Mary's School. As a class, we will be looking at the book The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Through a range of different exciting lessons, the children will be focusing on their descriptive writing - we can't wait to see the results!

This term in Maths, children will continue to focus on strengthening a range of mathematical concepts. We will start the term by continuing to work on our multiplication and division, before moving on to money and statistics to finish off the term. Alike with last term, a secure knowledge of times tables will help the children hugely so please keep practicing!

Our Science topic this term is 'Let there be light!' We will be studying all things light and dark, with a particular focus on reflective surfaces and shadow making.

Our Geography topic this term is Marvelous Maps! Children will be creating their own sketch maps and exploring the local area. Children will finish off the term by creating their own magical maps of Narnia.

In RE, we will look at what it means to belong to a religion, focusing particularly on Islam.

Useful information:

P.E. this term will take place on Wednesday and Thursday. Please ensure children come into school wearing P.E. kit on these days. These sessions may take place outside so please ensure that children have something warm to wear.

The children have a termly overview of the homework they are required to complete stuck in their books. Please ensure they learn the correct spellings for the week and complete at least one homework task from the termly overview. Homework will continue to be collected in on a Friday.

Please ensure that children are bringing their reading record in with them every day and that they are reading five times a week. These are checked weekly.

As we are approaching the winter months, please ensure that your child brings a coat with them every day. This will allow us to enjoy time outside even when the weather is against us.
